Groupe Casino’s Senegalese division has signed an agreement with French company Money to Goods, which will allow Senegal’s diaspora to transfer money into credit, which can be then used by their relatives to collect goods in seven Casino hypermarkets across the country.
The French supermarket chain, which has already deployed its e-commerce arm Cdiscount in Senegal, also has a presence in Cameroon, the Ivory Coast, the Congo and Gabon, according to JeuneAfrique.com.
The deal between Groupe Casino and Money to Goods will come into effect on 28 June. It was signed by Christophe Petit, the managing director of Casino Senegal, and Stéphane Poutcheu, the president of Money to Goods.
Negotiations had been ongoing since 2014.
