Continente has become the first food retailer in Portugal to launch electronic receipts for shoppers, following a pilot phase introduced last month.
Using the service, shoppers can electronically compile all receipts from purchases made at Continente, Continente Modelo, and Continente Bom Dia stores. In the future the service will also be extended to the Well's, note!, Zu and Supermercados Go Natural banners.
Shoppers using the service are required to be holders of the Continente Card or Universo Card.
Customers will be sent to the customer's email. Users can also check all their customers for the last 30 days through the app and the Continente Card website.
Using this innovation, Continente seeks to improve the customer experience, enabling them to save about 20 seconds for each purchase, since it is no longer necessary to wait for receipts to be printed. This translates into savings of a total of about 35 minutes annually, Continente said.
If all customers adhere to this functionality, the retailer said that around 193 tonnes of paper/year could be saved, corresponding to the preservation of around 4,000 trees.
