Coop Sweden has announced that it is conducting a pilot test of an augmented reality (AR) game that aims to make shopping playful and exciting for families.
The app has been developed by Coop's Test Lab in association with Peppy Pals and is being tested in Stora Coop Tumba and Stora Coop Bromma.
'A Customer Experience'
Digital product manager at Coop Sweden, Henrik Staaf, said, “This is a customer experience that we believe in, where we create an adventure that both adults and children will appreciate.
“By creating a platform where the family can meet and inspire each other, the adults are given the opportunity to manage their daily life, while the younger family members have the opportunity to influence the family's meal in a fun way.”
The recipe hunt game allows users to seek help from their favourite Peppy Pals characters to gather ingredients needed for selected recipes.
The hunt for ingredients takes users to different parts of the store, making shopping a fun experience for families.
'Playful And Exciting Shopping Experience'
Paulina Olsson, CEO of Peppy Pals, added, “The purpose of the app is to create a playful and exciting shopping experience that makes it easy and fun for families to shop and cook together.
“Shopping can sometimes feel stressful for families, but with the help of Peppy Pals Recipe Hunting, the stress is exchanged for playfulness and enjoyment.”
The game includes recipes from Coop's test kitchen recipe bank.
The recipes included in the game are carefully selected to suit the whole family and changed every week, Coop added.
The retailer plans to extend the AR experience to other stores based on the success of the pilot project.
