Coop Switzerland has opened the country’s first public hydrogen service station, believing that the Swiss hydrogen car industry will grow over the coming years.
The hydrogen is processed only a kilometre from the Hunzenschwil site. Cars that are powered in this way have no carbon footprint.
“We want to spark a revolution which will see a broad rollout of this kind of technology,” said Joos Sutter, the company’s managing director.
“We want to be ready for the future, because, as demand for fossil fuels shrinks, this type of technology will build in popularity. Coop has the capacity to gain experience in this field.”
