Italian regional retailer and Spar franchise holder Maiora has seen orders through its Despar at Home platform surge during the pandemic.
Despar at Home was launched in partnership with Microsoft and ReStore, with the aim of digitising the shopping experience, helping consumers to shop from home.
The volume of purchases via the Despar at Home platform and app increased by 50% between January and August 2020, while between September and November, sales through the platform were up 70%, according to Maiora president and CEO Pippo Cannillo.
Despar at Home was first launched in April 2019 with the rollout of the ReStore programme, which is powered by Microsoft Azure Cloud.
Maiora (Despar Centro Sud) is the a major retail and distribution firm in Central and Southern Italy, boasting a total of 386 stores.
