Spanish retail group DIA has announced that it is hiring the consultancy services of Boston Consulting Group (BCG).
The US-based consultancy firm will help DIA with its digitisation process and its customer proximity, utilising its experience in the retail food sector, the retailer said in a statement.
On its website, BCG details how it recently helped a grocer return to profitability after revamping its online grocery strategy, which resulted in a 5% increase in sales efficiency.
DIA chief executive Ricardo Currás, said that hiring BCG "is one more step towards steady progress in the digitisation process and in the search for the best experience in customer proximity".
Strategic Development
The decision has been supported by DIA’s Strategy Committee, which was formed on 22 February for the development of this project.
DIA Group’s board approved the committee's creation, with the objective of defining and monitoring the group’s strategies in the medium to long term.
The retailer recently posted €10.3 billion in sales for 2017, up 1.5% compared to the year before, despite a 3.3% decline in its Iberian business.
It has been expanding its Amazon Prime Now online purchase and delivery service to several cities across the country, including Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia.
DIA’s collaboration with the e-commerce giant previously included Amazon lockers for flexible order collection at several of its virtual La Plaza de DIA stores.
