Russian retailer Dixy Group announced plans to install parcel terminals for the online retailer Ozon.ru at 120 Dixy stores in the Moscow area by the end of the year.
The Dixy Group said it will expand the order pickup service in other regions too, with approximately 400 Ozon Box terminals in 2018.
The Russian online retailer Ozon.ru offers a parcel terminal delivery system called Ozon Box that is fully customised, from its software to the locker dimensions, according to the Dixy Group.
The Dixy Group says the Ozon parcel terminals will allow it to attract extra traffic to its stores, while enabling customers to pick up their online orders at the same time as they shop for essential products at a neighbourhood store.
Delivering Convenience
The retailer made a similar agreement with the Russian parcel and courier service Teleport last October. The Dixy Group said that until the end of the year, Teleport plans to install approximately 200 terminals in Dixy stores located in St Petersburg, Moscow, and the Moscow region.
The pilot project was rolled out in St Petersburg using vacant spaces in Dixy stores for Teleport's parcel terminals. These were installed in stores in the densely populated urban areas of St Petersburg and Moscow.
“We sublease our premises to companies developing popular services, such as Ozon.ru – and we supplement our product offer with a set of relevant services,” said Eugeny Malkov, Dixy Group business development director.
“It is important for us to provide Dixy customers with an opportunity not only to buy all they need at our stores, but to use an expanded service offer as well. Such an approach boosts sales and facilitates growth of extra traffic in our chain stores.”
