German supermarket Edeka has updated its app with a new design and additional functions, allowing customers to pay for their groceries through mobile payment in 800-plus of its stores in Berlin and Hamburg, and in the Ruhr area and around Nuremberg.
The new functions allow its users to pay using their mobile phones and redeem coupons to claim discount. The app also offers numerous recipes with dietary preferences such as vegan or lactose free, as well as to select their personal branch, inside-handy.de reports.
Last month, Edeka opened an account on social media platform Instagram in an attempt to attract more online customers, stating that it will "invest a lot of love and passion" in its new Instagram account.
