Edeka has opened a new 'Food Tech Campus' in Berlin, aimed at promoting food and technology innovations in the retail sector.
The new facility will offer startups the opportunity to work with the retailer on developing solutions for the future of retail.
Overall, the ‘Food Tech Campus’ offers space for more than 130 personnel, as well as offering startups various online and offline services to give them a launchpad for their business models.
For workshops, product seminars or productions, photo shootings and events, the site also houses workshops, a kitchen studio and an event space.
For the past two years, Edeka has used the online platform ‘foodstarter’ to promote cooperation between startups and Edeka retailers.
More than 200 start-ups, boasting around 700 product solutions, have already used the platform to introduce their products to around 1,000 Edeka merchants.
Startup founders thus receive direct feedback on packaging sizes, pricing concepts and shelf placement to make their product even more competitive.
