Purchasing group European Marketing Distribution AG (EMD) has announced the launch of a new international data sharing platform, which will see industrial partners offered access to sales data from core members including Kaufland International, Globus International, ESD Italia, Euromadi Spain and Lenta Russia.
Launching in 2020, the new platform will see EMD partner with Nielsen to offer information on sales performance in particular markets to FMCG producers.
The system will enable said producers to cooperate more closely with EMD member companies, the group said, as well as develop more customer-orientated product innovations.
The project is in its final phase, EMD said, and is expected to be presented to EMD’s industrial partners in Berlin on 19 September.
Industry Benefits
“There are numerous benefits in data sharing," said Philippe Gruyters, managing director of EMD. "All involved companies from the retail and industrial sector can optimise their customer orientation and will have the highest awareness of the newest consumption trends.”
Founded in 1989, Switzerland-based EMD now operates across 20 countries in Europe, Oceania and Asia.
