Spanish supermarket chain Eroski has launched a Venture Programme, through which it will seek to develop innovative solutions by applying disruptive technologies to develop new business models.
The corporate entrepreneurship initiative will target startups, entrepreneurs and projects working on the development of solutions that respond to the current and future challenges of the sector, the retailer said.
The program is based on new, rapidly scalable technologies that can be complemented by Eroski's capabilities, processes and other physical or digital assets.
Assisting Entrepreneurs
Due to its methodology and focus on results, the programme will help entrepreneurs increase their network of contacts through Eroski's network and relationship map.
They will also be accompanied in the process through continuous monitoring and a roadmap customised to their objectives.
A Demo Day is set to take place – the date of which is still to be announced – during which the startups will be able to receive feedback from investors, institutions and companies in the sector.
The deadline for submitting proposals is 17 July and the selected projects will be announced on 26 July.
Venture Programme
According to Eroski's director of innovation and digital development, David Sánchez, the Venture Programme will allow the company to position itself as a "benchmark in the world of entrepreneurship".
Although initially focused on Spain, he announced that the intention is to make the Venture Programme international, "in order to reach more dynamic and advanced environments in terms of entrepreneurship in order to attract the best solutions".
