EuroCommerce, a group that represents the retail sector across Europe, has published a new guide for retailers providing information and advice on contactless payments.
Contactless technology allows for payment of small transactions to be completed quickly by contactless card or mobile app. EuroCommerce says that businesses need to take advantage of the potential benefits of this technology, and train staff on how to use the equipment properly.
Huge Potential
“In a world where people are under greater time pressure than ever, if customers see long queues in a shop, they may either not go in, or give up waiting,” said Christian Verschueren, general director of EuroCommerce.
“Contactless technology can be introduced relatively easily alongside existing payment systems. A number of merchants that have adopted technology to handle contactless cards have reported a time saving in payments and a significant upturn in footfall.”
