FrieslandCampina Installs First Small Windmill In Dutch Farm

FrieslandCampina has installed the first small windmill in a dairy farm in Zwolle in the Netherlands as part of a collaboration with E.A.Z. wind to generate sustainable energy.

More than 400 member dairy farmers have shown interest in the project since it was announced in June of this year.

Carbon Neutrality

The project will be instrumental for the dairy firm's aim to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.

The move is a part of its farm energy programme, aimed to help member dairy farmers switch to green energy.

FrieslandCampina has also introduced large-scale projects such as Solar and Jumpstart, which has enabled more than 2,500 member dairy farmers to generate green electricity.

Green Energy

Combined with solar power, the energy from the small windmills will help farmers in meeting their entire electricity requirements from sustainable sources, the dairy giant said.

Solar energy generated during the day in summer months and wind energy at night and during winters will help in balancing energy production, it added.
