Amazon 'Dash Button' Introduced To German Market

Amazon's Dash Button, a device that enables replacement products to be ordered easily, has arrived in Germany.

Each Dash Button displays a brand name, operates on a long-life battery, and uses wi-fi. The idea behind the device is to enable customers to quickly order items of which they are running out, for example, near their washing machines, to press and order when they run out of detergent.

The German Bosch, Siemens, Bauknecht and Samsung brands have already expressed an interest in installing an automated version of the Dash Button in certain connected devices. Printers, for example, could be programmed to order replacement cartridges when the toner level drops below a certain measure.

Amazon Dash Buttons were introduced in the US in 2015 and sold on Amazon for €4.99. Products most frequently replaced using the Dash Button include detergents, cosmetic products and pet foods. Dash Button-enabled brands in Germany include Ariel, Persil, Play-Doh, Schwarzkopf, Oral-B, Pedigree and Whiskas.
