Italy’s Gruppo Finiper has announced a partnership with Checkpoint Systems to implement security solutions that will protect its stores from theft and tampering of goods.
The project, Connectivity, has been tested successfully in the Iper outlet in Savignano sul Rubicone - one of the group's largest store in terms of size and turnover.
By 2019, the project will be extended to all 27 stores under the banner.
As well as ensuring that products are not subjected to shoplifting, the system also ensures that the visual identity of the brand is not altered by labels or collars.
Combination Of Technologies
The project has implemented smart analytics and smart counter software applications. These applications collect and analyse the historical data of the security systems, and monitor customer inflows.
Additionally, Checkpoint smart control service makes hourly calls from the operations centre to the individual units to monitor operations.
When an anomaly is detected, the store manager is warned and the staff is relieved from the task of verifying the system.
Checkpoint Systems has also organised training courses to improve the level of expertise of Iper's safety officers.
The staff at the points of sale have also been trained to analyse data on daily customer flow, helping them to devise plans to reduce inventory differences.
The retail group also plans to implement new technologies and ad hoc sensors for improving security at every checkout point, and monitoring purchasing behavior in hypermarkets.
