Swedish retail group ICA Gruppen has established a new chief-digital-officer role at group level, which, it says, will assist the retailer in "taking its next step in the work on strengthening its focus on digitalisation".
Peter Muld, former business CIO and head of the digital transformation at Swedish airline SAS, will take up the role, starting on 5 September. The retailer said in a statement that the new role will "ensure a clearer and more coordinated digital strategy for the entire group".
ICA has recently added ICA Insurance and pharmacy chain Apotek Hjärtat to its group, which, it says, has created "several interfaces with the same customers, which is giving rise to new opportunities". The new function has been created to fully capitalise on the opportunities that this presents.
Liv Forhaug, chief strategy officer of ICA Gruppen, commented on the new position: “Peter has a highly relevant background, with extensive experience in both IT and business opportunities coupled with digitalisation, among other things, from his former role as business CIO and head of the digital transformation at SAS.
"I also see Peter’s diverse and broad record of experience from both entrepreneurial ventures and large corporations as a merit in his ability to contribute to our journey of change.”
