Iper and Esselunga have been named as the top online retailers in Italy, according to a report published by BEM Research.
Websites listed in the ranking are given points based on five parameters; how often the retailer is search for online, the visibility of its website based on high traffic keywords; web page loading speed; website usability, and the level of online competition in the sector in which the company operates.
Iper and Esselunga the top position in the April ranking, each with 45,8 points.
Third in the ranking is Coop, the consumer cooperative active throughout Italy, with 40,5 points.
According to the head of Web Marketing at BEM Research, Mariachiara Marsella, it is evident that Italian consumers are increasingly using the Internet to inform themselves and buy the products that interest them.
However, for retailers it is not enough to be present and visible on the web, they also need to build websites that meet the needs of consumers.
