Supermarket chain Bennet has become one of the first retailers in Italy to enable payments via Google Pay.
The new service enables users to manage credit or debit cards directly through their Google accounts, enabling secure payment on apps and websites in all stores that support contactless payments, and on all Google properties including Google Play and YouTube.
Payment Within Seconds
With the new Google Pay app, Android users can make payments within seconds. The app is compatible with devices using the Android operating system (Android 5+), and with Wear OS smartwatches, equipped with NFC technology.
To avail of the service, shoppers just need to download the Google Pay app and add a credit, debit or prepaid card issued by any of the supported banks. Users can also activate the service directly in their bank's mobile app.
In order to make purchases, users activate their phone screen, and place it on the terminal for contactless payment, which is powered by NFC technology.
Bennet operates 62 hypermarkets and 45 shopping malls, with more than 1,200 stores, in six Italian regions - Lombardy, Piedmont, Emilia-Romagna, Veneto, Friuli Venezia Giulia, and Liguria.
Google Pay payment services have also been introduced by Lidl Italia and Esselunga.
