Italian consumer cooperative Coop Lombardia is planning to digitise its stores with SmartTAG electronic labels equipped with HD+ e-paper graphic displays, according to a press release.
The labels are readable at any point on the shelf and are graphically configurable. Coop can interact with the system at any time, and it is faster than any other existing technology on the market.
Pricer is using its patented bi-directional software system, Optical@Pricer, which includes advanced monitoring features.
The technology is also health friendly, as it involves optical communication with labels, with no wi-fi waves or radio frequencies involved.
Smart Tags For A Better Shopping Experience
Each electronic label is equipped with flash capability that can be switched on in real time to report the specific actions of customers or employees.
The proprietary technology, Pricer Black Safe Screen, integrated into SmartTag labels, prevents the display of incorrect pricing when batteries run out.
Thanks to the agreement with Pricer, many innovations will be introduced at Coop Lombardia’s Mercato del Futuro sales point, at the Bicocca Village in Milan, to improve the shopping experience.
Another feature that the company will introduce is the Suite4Pricer platform. It will allow customers to dynamically identify the position of products without the aid of sales staff in a store. This functionality will also be integrated into mobile applications.
The retailer is present in the Lombardy region, with 55 points of sale, 41 supermarkets and 14 hypermarkets.
