JORDAO INNOVCOOL® has launched the CORK CORE® thermal insulation solution, as part of its efforts to reduce the carbon footprint of the company's commercial refrigeration range.
CORK CORE® offers an innovative, eco-friendly solution made from 100% natural cork.
Cork is a natural, renewable raw material from cork oak forests – a natural Portuguese ecosystem with an outstanding environmental value that absorbs more than 14 million tonnes of CO2 per year.
The material, known for its unique natural properties, finds use in a wide range of applications in the construction, wine, aerospace and fashion industries, as well as household items.
Joana Lobo, R&D director at JORDAO, said, "The innovative cork agglomerate insulation replaces the injected polyurethane (PU) solution, traditionally used for thermal insulation and mechanical sturdiness, offering significant environmental advantages and delivering the best performance.
"The production of cork, unlike polyurethane, is carbon negative and removes more CO2 from the atmosphere than it emits."
