Dutch retailer Jumbo has announced a strategic partnership with Gorillas in the Netherlands and Flanders, focussing on instant delivery of groceries ordered online in larger cities.
The partnership will allow both companies to benefit from each other’s expertise and strengthen their market positions.
The agreement will see Jumbo supplying a large part of its range to Gorillas, including various a-brand, private-label, organic, and exclusive La Place products.
The deal also has provision for delivering orders within minutes in urban areas in the future.
Currently, Gorillas operates in eleven Dutch cities and two Belgian cities.
Commenting on the partnership, Jumbo CEO Frits van Eerd, said, "Like Jumbo, Gorillas stands for a high level of service and distinguishes itself through a customer-oriented approach. Thanks to this collaboration, we can further expand our service and increase the choice for our online customers."
The Deal
The partnership between Jumbo and Gorillas is based on long-term cooperation and has an initial term of several years.
The collaboration will commence this quarter and will be scaled up rapidly.
The agreement also includes bundling of marketing activities in the field of super-fast grocery delivery.
Kagan Sümer, founder and CEO of Gorillas, said, "Jumbo and Gorillas share many common values; we are entrepreneurs at heart who are committed to providing the best possible experience to our customers while continuously innovating.
"This partnership will deliver unprecedented value to Jumbo and Gorillas customers. Via the Gorillas app, they gain access to Jumbo's extensive range of quality products and Jumbo's online customers will soon have the option of having their groceries delivered to their home in no time."
Gorillas recently entered into partnerships with retailers in other markets, such as Tesco in the UK and Casino Group in France.
