Lidl Denmark has announced the launch of the Lidl Plus app, a new digital customer club programme.
The new app is free and comes pre-installed with DKK 30 (approximately €4) as a welcome gift, for use in Lidl's stores. One of the main advantages of the app, according to Lidl, is that it frees customers from having to add another plastic customer card to their collection.
Front-Runners
Commenting on the new app, Dirk Fust, the CEO of Lidl Denmark, said, "We want to be the front-runners in Danish discount, and Lidl Plus is an important part of our digital ambitions for the future. In the coming years, we will develop and add additional services to increase our service levels and enhance the shopping experience for our customers.
"Of course, we continue to offer our well-known Lidl prices and high-quality products to all our customers. We are undertaking a number of exciting developments, and I'm sure Lidl Plus will prove to be a valuable asset for our customers," added Fust.
The app features a store finder, exclusive offers on popular items, and member offers on Lidl products. It will also give customers digital scratch cards, with the chance to win the value of their last purchase, up to DKK 500 (approximately €67).
Dorte Wimmer, a consumer expert from Retail Institute Scandinavia, pointed to the growing importance of such digital loyalty platforms.
"Retail chains have really realised the potential of adding digital platforms to their interaction with customers, and that makes sense because social media and customer apps have the potential to create an even closer relationship with customers," Wimmer said.
