Lidl Italia Supplied Exclusively by Green Energy

Lidl Italia has reached an important milestone, by using electricity exclusively supplied, from renewable energy sources.

The retailer’s conversion to the green energy cause started in 2015 and is now reflected along its entire chain of presence in Italy – from the General Directorate in Arcole, to the 10 regional directorates and including over 570 stores.

Lidl Italia signed an electricity purchase contract with C.V.A. Trading, and has obtained a certificate from the Italian Network Authority (GSE) attesting the origin of the renewable energy sources.

As further proof of its great sensitivity in terms of environmental sustainability and energy efficiency, Lidl Italia’s new sales points feature the A+ energy class, being equipped with photovoltaic systems and built with highly insulating materials.

The retailer’s long-term goal is to reduce energy consumption through the streamlining of business processes, by raising awareness of employees on energy issues and more careful management of resources.
