German discounter Lidl has announced that customers will be able to use the Lidl Plus app in all 3,200 outlets across the country, starting 14 September.
The decision comes after a successful pilot project and will allow customers to avail of instant prizes, digital receipts and several other features.
The Lidl Plus app is already one of the best-rated apps in German retail, the company added.
'An Important Component'
"With the Lidl Plus app, we want to offer our customers another argument to shop at Lidl and thus save money on every purchase," explained Dominik Eberhard, managing director digital at Lidl Germany.
"Lidl Plus is an important component of the digital development at Lidl and links our digital and stationary business even more closely."
It takes about 90 seconds to register on the free-to-use Lidl Plus app, available on Apple App Store or Google Play.
The app can also be used in Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark, Austria, Poland and many other countries where Lidl operates.
Features
The retailer offers all newly registered users a €5 welcome coupon, that can be redeemed with a subsequent purchase worth €30.
The app also functions as a digital loyalty card, which can be used for collecting points for discounts, and redeeming digital coupons.
It also gives Lidl Plus customers benefits such as special prices at petrol stations, restaurants or places of leisure that have partnered with Lidl.
