Maxima Latvia has extended its contactless shopping service, Skenē pats! (Scan it Yourself!), to around 31 large format XX and XXX stores in Latvia.
The service, initially available in Riga and Mārupe, has now been extended to the cities of Liepaja, Daugavpils, Jelgava, Valmiera, Jēkabpils, Ogre, Saldus, Madona, Rezekne, Tukums, Cēsis, Limbaži and Talsi,
Maxima Latvia is also offering a 10% discount to customers who have not used the service before on their first 10 purchases.
The service allows shoppers to scan goods and pay at self-service checkouts, or in a special payment area using the Maxima mobile app.
It aims to make shopping simple by allowing customers to see the price of products and the total of all scanned items.
In addition, products can be directly placed in the shopping bag, avoiding the need to move products repeatedly.
Maxima App
Shoppers need to download the Maxima app on their mobile phones and open the 'Skenē pats!' function to access the service.
The app is available for Android, iOS and Huawei, the retailer noted.
The app allows shoppers to keep track of their purchase history, check the price of goods, review current promotions, use the virtual 'Thank you' card, apply for a digital cheque, and find the nearest Maxima store.
The app also offers other benefits, such as creating a shopping list.
Last month, Maxima Grupė reported an 18% year-on-year increase in revenue, to €2.8 billion, in the first six months of its financial year.
Nearly half of its revenue growth was generated by the positive performance of the Stokrotka retail chain, which, in turn, was driven by several years of expansion in Poland.
