Ocado has announced that it plans to develop a second Customer Fulfilment Centre (CFC) for Canadian retailer Sobeys in Pointe-Claire, Montreal.
The first CFC for Sobeys is already under construction in Vaughan, Ontario, and will serve the Greater Toronto Area.
Partnership
Ocado and Sobeys commenced their partnership in 2018. The groups are working together to transform the online shopping experience for grocery shoppers in Canada using its 'end-to-end technology and automation solutions', Ocado said in a statement.
“Today is an exciting moment for Sobeys’ and Ocado’s relationship as we deepen an already strong partnership and bring an unrivalled online grocery experience to consumers in another important Canadian market.” said Luke Jensen, CEO of Ocado Solutions.
"Sobeys’ decision to order a second CFC in Quebec demonstrates its commitment to providing a world-class online service to its customers across Canada." he added.
Next Destination
“We are confident in the CFC we are building in the Greater Toronto Area and have now turned our attention to the next destination in Canada." said Sarah Joyce, SVP of Sobeys Inc.
Sobeys also announced a new brand identity for its e-commerce solution. According to its statement, powered by Ocado's technology, 'Voilà by Sobeys' is set to launch early Spring 2020 in Toronto.
The group also said that 'Voilà' will launch in Montreal serving Quebec and the Ottawa area in 2021.
