UK retailer Morrisons has teamed up with startup accelerator firm TrueStart, to source young companies that can 'provide answers to retail’s productivity challenges'.
TrueStart, which connects startups with 'influential people in influential brands', is working with the retailer to source companies that will enable Morrisons to serve its customers better, deliver operational effectiveness, engage with colleagues, and address supply chain and logistics management issues.
'Driving productivity improvements is critical to delivering growth across the entire UK economy and is a specific focus for many retailers,' a statement on the TrueStart website said.
'From promoting service quality, customer interaction and culture, to modernising inventory management, productivity impacts operational effectiveness and the overall customer experience. Within the grocery sector, this is even more prevalent due to the rapid turnover of stock, high customer footfall and growing demands around convenience and purchase efficiencies that customers increasingly expect as standard.'
Applications for would-be participants are already open, and run until 22 February. Successful start-ups will pitch to the retailer from 6 March.
