Online-only grocer Ocado has posted retail sales of 13.1% in its fourth quarter, totaling £398.1 million, according to a trading statement.
The UK-based group saw its average orders per week grow by 17.6% to 241,000 compared to the same period last year, driven by new and existing customers.
Its average order size decreased by 2.9%, 'from both continued industry-wide price deflation and further take up of the Ocado "Smart Pass", leading customers to shop more frequently,' the company said.
"We are very pleased with the financial performance achieved this year. The strong growth in sales and order volumes reflects the attractiveness of our retail offer to customers," sad Tim Steiner, Ocado's Chief Executive Officer.
"During the period, we were also pleased to announce that we have commenced operations at our Andover CFC. This is the first of our CFCs to use our new proprietary infrastructure equipment solution and software, which will support the ongoing growth of our business."
