Italian supermarket chain Pam Panorama has partnered with start-up FrescoFrigo to instal smart fridges that dispense fresh and quality products.
The innovative solution is designed for people who are conscious of their lifestyle and prefer healthy-eating options with the convenience of automatic dispensing.
Pam Panorama is the first company in the Italian large-scale retail trade to provide this service.
The first intelligent refrigerator by Pam Local was installed in Milan, at the company NoiCompriamoAuto.it.
The fresh and ready-to-eat products include yoghurts, salads, fruit juices, and fruit salads, supplied by the nearest Pam Local outlet.
The Process
FrescoFrigo has been installing smart fridges since 2018, in offices, gyms, universities, hospitals and hotels, offering up to 25 healthy product references.
The smart fridges are installed free of cost, and the food is supplied by local cooking workshops and restaurants no more than 500 metres from the location of the refrigerators.
After registering for the service and choosing a digital payment method, customers can unlock the refrigerator by moving the FrescoFrigo card closer to the reader, or by using the app.
They can then choose the products and compare details and the price on the packaging.
The fridge uses RFID technology to identify products that have been taken and charges the appropriate amount to the customer’s account.
