Drinks company Pernod Ricard has developed the first-ever ‘connected’ cocktail library, which it hopes will drive the sales of its products in supermarkets.
The new system, christened Opn, is designed to assist people in writing their shopping lists by identifying different Pernod products needed for specific cocktails.
It helps the user learn and customise cocktail recipes, adapting them to available ingredients through the use of ‘a holistic, user-friendly ecosystem of devices, applications and services.’
The commercial release will take place in 2018.
The technology was created by the drinks company’s Breakthrough Innovation Group. Its managing director, Alain Dufossé, commented, "We are utterly committed to developing the future of entertaining at home: an experience that is connected, engaging, tailored and responsible."
"With Opn, our goal is to make it easier to enjoy meaningful moments of convivialité at home," he added.
