Consumer goods giant Procter & Gamble (P&G) has announced that more than 3,500 products in its portfolio now feature ‘SmartLabel’ support.
SmartLabel is an online and mobile platform that enables consumers to access detailed information such as product ingredients, usage instructions, certifications and endorsements.
Transparency
P&G intends to use SmartLabel to achieve its transparency goals, announced in the recent Ambition 2030, and help people make informed decisions by providing ingredient information in a clear, reliable and accessible way.
Kathy Fish, chief technology officer, Procter & Gamble, said, “Using SmartLabel to share our products’ ingredients reinforces P&G’s commitment to transparency, and is one way we are holding ourselves accountable to the transparency goals we outlined in Ambition 2030.
“We know people care about what goes into the products they use every day, and we want consumers to be informed and confident in their choice to place P&G products in their baskets.”
Seeking Information
P&G said the move is in response to consumer needs, as research revealed that consumers are seeking more information about product ingredients than in the past.
Some 80% believe transparency is “very important or important” when shopping for personal care or beauty products.
P&G products, such as Febreeze, Pampers and Tide, are all available through the SmartLabel website as well as on iOS and Android devices.
