German retailer Rewe Group is testing a flat rate for online deliveries above €40, reports Kurier. 'Lieferflat VIP' will allow customers to have products delivered to them for free.
Rewe is starting its test phase in the cities of Berlin and Cologne with a few selected participants. The special status will last for six months but can be extended by the customer on request.
Online Competition
Berlin is currently a competitive market, with companies such as Amazon and Edeka also offering a grocery delivery service.
Rewe’s online service is currently available in 75 German cities and their surrounding areas. The retailer says that it plans to constantly expand this network. In addition, an online market with products such as wines or toys from partner companies will be tested from the beginning of July onwards.
