Russian e-grocery platform Ozon Express has launched a meal delivery service for ready-to-eat meals, offering salads and hot meals within a 60-minute or less delivery time.
The service is currently available in Moscow, and will be rolled out to other locations shortly, the company said.
As of the end of this year, around 30 different meal options will be available through the platform, and sold under the Ozon Express brand.
Ozon Express Dark Kitchen
The Ozon Express dark kitchen was built in Moscow from scratch, with the current capacity of 500,000 meals per month. The menu of options was developed by Aleksey Barkovsky, an experienced chef with many years of experience in both restaurants and food retail.
“Here at Ozon Express, we took recipes from around the world and added some special ingredients, making unique meals that are well suited for this market," commented Andrei Kozhin, director of food production at Ozon Express.
"For example, our Greek salad has king-size Kalamata olives, while our plov is made the authentic Uzbek way with real barberries. We work with top quality produce and meat suppliers like Miratorg and Primebeef to source the best ingredients."
Quality Control Maintained
Ozon Express said that its kitchens operate under a strict quality control system, undertaking rigorous testing of all products and ensuring quality control is maintained throughout the preparation process.
Ozon Express, the e-grocery arm of Ozon, is available in Moscow, parts of the Moscow Region, St. Petersburg, Tver, and Rostov-on-Don, offering approximately 20,000 SKUs.
Ozon is one of Russia's fastest-growing e-commerce platforms, debuting on the Nasdaq last year and posting a 94% increase in gross merchandise volume in its second quarter. The business also recently expanded in Kazakhstan.
