Italian retail consortium Selex Group has launched a new online shopping portal, CosíComodo, bringing together different store banners and sales formats.
Initially, three regional retailers within the group have activated the service. Other store banners are expected to join soon with the aim of delivering the service nationwide.
So far the service does not provide home delivery or online payment options, however Selex says these facilities are in the pipeline.
At present, customers insert their location on the site and the system suggests the closest supermarkets. After filling the online shopping cart, customers are required to specify the preferred time for collection and payment.
A Selex statement said that the online offer includes promotions that 'cater to price-conscious users, seasonal products (fruits and vegetables), private labels and a wide selection of proposals that meet consumer trends, from gluten to organic'.
