A number of Spar partners across Italy have rolled out mobile apps and games to enhance the shopping experience for customers.
In the Northeast and Emilia-Romagna regions, Aspiag Service is using a mobile app to enhance customer loyalty and brand recognition, through its ‘Despar Tribù’ loyalty scheme.
The app provides store information, access to special offers and loyalty points updates, while a number of in-app games have also driven engagement, with users even setting up social media groups to discuss solutions to the app's various puzzles.
During the second half of 2019, Aspiag also rolled out mobile payment options in a number of Despar, Eurospar, and Interspar stores, allowing customers to pay with either Apple Pay or Samsung Pay.
'Menu Completo'
In Sicily, Gruppo Ergon launched the 'Menu Completo' in-app activity that challenges customers to build a five-course menu and collect discount vouchers by playing a game similar to the popular ‘Wheel of Fortune’ quiz show.
Users need to provide answers to ten questions and, for each correct answer, they can ‘spin the wheel’ once. Once a certain amount of points have been collected, they can be redeemed as a discount voucher worth €2 or €5.
Recent experiences and best practices in gamification are being shared with other Despar Italia partners, to support them in developing new apps and in-app games.
