Spar Italy has introduced a new app in association with technology partner Aspiag Service for better retail management.
The retailer has rolled out the .onRetail app in over 560 Despar, Eurospar, and Interspar stores in the Northeast and Emilia-Romagna regions.
The new solution assists retail teams in various processes, such as placing orders with the distribution centres or suppliers, managing returns, and material goods handling, Spar said in a statement.
In 2018, the retailer introduced the Android-based solution in 238 company-owned outlets and 327 independent stores after pilot testing the technology with one hundred employees.
Impact
The new app has eliminated data collection errors and resulted in a significant reduction in stockpiling in warehouses and wastage of goods.
Maurizio Usan, retail organisation manager at Aspiag Service, explained, "The new app rollout has completely changed and improved our processes at retail level, allowing retail staff to communicate instantly and more effectively with our central office.
"Our 4,000 colleagues now have a much clearer and more complete view of order processes, being viewed on their mobile device. They no longer need to look up documents on paper or go to their back-office computers."
The new system has also reduced the printing of hard-copy pricelists by 20%. During the first six months of 2019, over a million fewer documents were printed compared to the same period in 2018, the retailer added.
