Italian e-grocery marketplace Supermercato24 has acquired Poland's only on-demand grocery delivery service, Szopi.pl.
The acquisition paves way for the Italian e-grocery company's upcoming launch in the Polish market.
'The Ultimate Benefit'
Federico Sargenti, chief executive of Supermercato24, commented, "[Supermercato24 and Szopi] regard the wide range of available stores as the ultimate benefit for our customers and we are confident that joining our forces will allow us to develop our business in Poland much effectively and at a faster pace."
In the beginning of 2020, the Szopi platform will be integrated into Supermercato24.
The founders of Szopi will be involved in the company's business development and operations, Supermercato24 said.
'New And Improved Offer'
Zbigniew Płuciennik, founder and CEO of Szopi, said, "We are very happy to become part of the Supermercato24 family and to develop together a new and improved offer for our Polish customers, based on the team’s expertise, commercial ties, and technology."
Launched in 2016, Szopi offers on-demand grocery delivery services from supermarkets and discount stores such as Carrefour, Auchan, Biedronka and Lidl in Poland.
It operates in Warsaw, Krakow, Wroclaw, and Poznan and has delivered more than 100,000 baskets so far.
