Swiss online supermarket LeShop - which is operated by Swiss retailer Migros - has seen its sales increase by 3.5% in the past year, resulting in a record CHF 182.1 million in revenue for 2016, AWP reports.
Around 42% of online orders were made through mobile devices such as smartphones, and LeShop's range of organic products proved a particular favourite with customers; sales of organics increased by 25%.
LeShop has attributed the strong growth in 2016 to the upgrading of its online service, extending delivery times to evenings in cities nationwide, and to the new design of the online store’s website.
Dominique Locher, LeShop’s chief executive is optimistic about the future of the online service, seeing the demand for online shopping growing steadily, as well as LeShop's potential target market, with digital technology predicted to be embraced by the majority of Swiss citizens by 2020.
