Unicoop Firenze has won Best Omnichannel Solution at EHI Retail Institute’s retail technology awards ceremony, which took place on February 23, the first day of the EuroCIS 2016 trade show in Dusseldorf.
With 104 stores in Tuscany, and 12 stores in capital city Rome, Unicoop Firenze is one of the largest cooperative retailers in Italy.
The retailer has worked to lay the foundation for a fully integrated omnichannel strategy, which has a unified business logic and data layer that integrates sales touchpoints and store management systems, as well as e-commerce applications provided by an NCR omnichannel software platform.
In order to improve the customer experience, while increasing the efficiency of store operations, it introduced a new smartphone application that brings together a wide range of in-store loyaly and digital services, and speeds up the checkout process.
The SalvApp allows Unicoop customers to make smart shopping lists, and opt into dynamic, targeted marketing promotions. Once they are in the store, they can scan the items they want to buy, and apply e-coupons for promotions.
When their shopping is complete, they can check out the whole basket using their smartphone at the NCR self-checkouts. The app can also provide detailed product information, and a store locator.
Riccardo Rapi, CIO at Unicoop Firenze commented, "Unicoop Firenze traditionally focusses on new solutions for its sales network, which includes self-service solutions that are used widely since 1998.
"Our re-engineered self-service approach now has been extended to the use of NCR shopping app. Moreover, it makes new services available for our members anytime and anywhere thereby supporting their needs before, during and after purchasing."
