Upmarket supermarket chain Waitrose has appointed Ross Avery as director of eCommerce.
Avery, currently head of strategy, will take over the role from Robin Phillips.
He will take up the new role from the end of November with responsibility for overseeing Waitrose’s eCommerce operation, including Waitrose.com, as well as direct services sites WaitroseCellar.com and WaitrosePet.com.
Having joined Waitrose in 2001 on its graduate programme, Avery held a number of positions over the past thirteen years, including branch manager and head of retail co-ordination.
He was appointed head of strategy for Waitrose in March of last year,
Soeaking on the appointment, Rob Collins, retail director at Waitrose, said: "I am delighted that Ross Avery will become Director, eCommerce."
He continued: "Ross is taking up the eCommerce reins at a very important but exciting time for our online business, and it is great that we have been able to draw on our own talent for this important appointment."
