Walmart has announced it has upgraded the Walmart app, to create a more convenient in-store experience for customers using its pharmacy and money services.
The company also intends to introduce express lanes for these services, starting in March, to include nearly all locations before the end of 2017.
Using the extended Walmart app, pharmacy customers can order prescriptions and keep track of prices and collection details more easily. They can soon also save time, by using the express lanes to collect their orders and payments electronically processed, via Walmart Pay.
The modified app will also allow for more efficient money transactions at Walmart stores, enabling customers to fill out forms in a digital format at home or while travelling.
"The new app capabilities are the latest example of how we’re bringing together the conveniences of Walmart, to deliver a seamless shopping experience for customers," said Daniel Eckert, senior vice president of Walmart services.
Walmart operates around 11,695 bricks-and-mortar stores in 28 countries, and e-commerce sites in 11 countries. The company employs around 2.3 million people, worldwide.
