Retail giant Walmart has unveiled Walmart Voice Order, a new voice-ordering capability that, the retailer reports, makes it easier for customers to do their grocery shopping.
Thanks to a collaboration with Google, shoppers can address Google Assistant with the command ‘Hello, Google. Talk to Walmart,’ and the Assistant will add the desired items to the online Walmart Grocery cart.
Moreover, Walmart Voice Order can quickly identify the articles for which the customers are asking, without the need to specify all product features, thanks to the information obtained from prior purchases.
Shopping Habits
According to Tom Ward, vice-president of digital operations at Walmart US, the new voice-ordering capability also aligns with the way that consumers shop, as they prefer to add articles to their cart one at a time over a few days, and not all at once.
The new technology facility is cross-platform, allowing customers to use any device utilising Google Assistant and enabling them to manage their shopping cart everywhere.
"Over the next few weeks, the service will roll [out] to more and more customers. We can’t wait to hear what they think about it and how it’s making shopping easier for them", Ward said.
