Shopping centre 'The Centre', in Livingston (Scotland), has introduced a wheelchair accessible photo-booth, which is designed to support people with a range of disabilities. It is the first shopping centre in Scotland to provide this service.
Developed by Photo-Me and leading UK disability charity, SCOPE, the new Photo-Me Universal Booth provides ICAO-compliant photographs - suitable for ID cards, passports and driving licences.
The 'Universal Booth' has a height-adjustable camera and a seat that can be moved, allowing people to stay seated in their wheelchair when having their photo taken. In addition, it has user-friendly graphics and text, audio messages and pictograms to assist people who are visually impaired or have learning difficulties.
Jennifer Bruce, marketing manager at The Centre, said: "As an inclusive, family orientated shopping centre, it's important to us that all of our visitors can enjoy their shopping experience. The'Universal Booth' offers all of our shoppers the chance to utilise the service - we're always looking for new ways to improve accessibility and support independent living.
