Russian retailer X5 has announced that it is expanding in the Siberian Federal District, after first launching its operations in the region in August 2016.
The retailer has opened five new Pyaterochka stores in the city of Barnaul, with a selling area of 2,100 square metres.
The stores are in line with the retailer's new supermarket concept, which was launched in 2013. To date, it has refurbished over 97% of Pyaterochka stores across 61 regions.
Siberian Sales
X5 says that Siberian producers account for over 25% of Pyaterochka’s product mix in its Siberian
stores. The retail chain has teamed up with more than 130 local suppliers, over 50 of which are located in the Novosibirsk region.
The stores in Barnaul have provided around 100 jobs for the city. The retailer is planning further expansion in the region, and expects to open another 19 new Pyaterochka outlets in the city by the end of the year.
Last month X5 Retail opened its 11,000th store in Russia, with a new Perekrestok supermarket in Moscow.
