Russian retail group X5 has announced the opening of its 11,000th store in the country. The new outlet is a Perekrestok supermarket, located in the Istrinsky district of Moscow.
With a total sales area of over 1,400 square meters, the new store offers 10,000 SKUs, many of which are from local producers, who supply 35% of Perekrestok's product mix in the Moscow region.
In 2016, 54 new producers in the greater Moscow area signed supply agreements with X5 Retail Group, and overall, domestic products make up over 90% of product mix across all of the group's stores.
The company had a leading market position in Moscow and St. Petersburg, and a significant presence in the Eastern part of Russia. It operates a number of retail formats, including proximity stores under the Pyaterouchka brand, Perekrestok supermarkets, Karusel hypermarkets, and Express convenience stores.
Last month, the group posted a 27.5% increase in revenue for the second quarter of the year, with sales tolling RUB 320,801 million.
